Romancing the Bedroom

Hope your week is starting out nicely.  We got tons of snow this week end.  Ughhh knew it was too good to be true we would not get dumped on this winter!!!!!

Anyway I wanted to show you the new bedspread I got recently.

I had Karen Harmon from Design Stitching make me this bedspread out of some Ikea Fabrics.  I like that it is completely washable because......

This little basset hound thinks she needs to sleep on the sleep number bed!!!!!

Yep don't try to hide behind those big paws we are all looking at you Libby!!!!!
Libby likes to bring in all kinds of nature with those big paws from the backyard so I need to have bedding that is washable.  Sorry for the fuzzy pics of her but I took these with my cell.

Karen from Design Stitching sewed a long white ruffle for the sides of the spread and used the  Ikea check material that matches the duvets I used for curtains in the room.  Sorry about the wrinkles my steamer broke so I am letting the wrinkles hang out.  Keeping it Real!!!!
I took the TV out of the bedroom some time ago but left the armoire to store my bedding.  This throw is from Pottery Barn.  Terry gifted it to me for Christmas.  It is so sweet to lay under on cold days and the fur trim is so soft.  I love that some of the proceeds from buying this went to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.

I like to use chandeliers when and where ever I can in my home.  I think Chandeliers just bring romance into the bedroom.

Terry put them on a dimmer switch so you can have them full brightness down to soft romantic lighting.

These are the drapes I made out of Ikea Twin Duvets.  A lot cheaper than buying drapes.  I just used drapery rings and hung them up.  They are in the same grey and white check of the fabric used for the bedspread.

This is one recent sweet find.  This pillow and the saying.  Loooove!!!! It is on my bucket list to visit Paris so this pillow is a reminder of that dream to come.

I like having the chandeliers hanging over the night stands instead of lamps.  Just more romantic and with the dimmers they can be easily adjusted.

The best item I have in my Master bedroom is this headboard that Terry made for me.  It is made out of three vintage cottage doors.  He hooked them together and used crown molding to finish the top.  We then hung them on the wall with a cleat.  With the doors being on the heavier side  he could sink the cleat into the studs to hold it securely.  Also leave less holes in the walls. If you would like to see how he made these you can go to this post.

I feel your bedroom should be a sanctuary you go to at the end of a day and find rest and peace.  I love my white chippy pieces in this room.  I know a lot of you love color in your bedrooms but for me the light gray and whites and creams give me a peaceful and serene feeling.

Have a wonderful week ahead.  Thanks for stopping by.
Kris

  6. Kris, what a sanctuary you have in your bedroom! Great look with the gray/white (Karen did a great job); love the throw and the toss pillow (my sentiment too). We're getting blustery winds and blowing snow today, but hopefully none of it will stick. So far so good. Stay warm,

  16. Your bedroom is gorgeous and Libby matches your decor. My dogs love to get on the bed also. However, I keep a old sheet on it at night and then during the day I shut the door or I would be making up the bed all day long.
Everything is perfect Kris and it looks so relaxing and romantic. Love the headboard - what a great idea.
I see that you really got dumped on with snow. Hang in there Spring is around the corner.
    Have a great week.

  17. Your new bedding is very pretty! I bet it's easy to make up too since it's all one piece. I like how you made your curtains too. Very clever! My dog loves getting on my bed too. It causes me to have to wash the bedding more often.

  30. Kris,
it's late - like nearly go to bed time for me and to see your dreamy romantic bedroom will inspire a blissful dream tonight for sure. I'm warning you Libby wants her own blog! Adorable photos of little Miss Soulful eyes!!! Kris I am so loving your sign "I have found the one my soul loves" loveliness galore and the perfect statement of love. I too have chandeliers, matter of fact all lighting on dimmers. Loving your chandeliers in you master and the spread is pretty also the Pottery Barn throw. Kris I hope your dream of going to Paris is a reality soon and I think your pillow is perfect for such a romantic bedroom.

  32. Love everything about your room. The throw is especially snuggly looking. Libby matches your décor, so atleast her fur is less noticeable. I have a black cocker spaniel who is very athletic so there is absolutely no way to keep him off the furniture. I frequently find him lounging on the back of the sofa...he must think he is a cat!. I hope all went as planned with your mother's move and you enjoyed spending time with her fluffing her nest. I have yet to see my mother's new appt....been busy with doc appts for my husband and his upcoming surgery. We lived in the Chicago area in the mid 80s, I so do not envy your weather. Stay warm and keep thrilling your blog friends with you decorating updates.

  42. I just fluffed my bedroom the other day and posted a few pics. Certainly not as beautiful as yours, but I still have lots of painting and stuff to do in there. I too feel the bedroom (even though I am alone) needs to be a place of respite from the world! Praying for your daughter and that you have gotten some rest this week! Blessings to you and stay warm and dry! Cindy xoxo

  44. I so love the chandeliers and wish I could have some, but my new place has such low ceilings I am afraid people would keep bumping theier heads. They would have been great in my old place!!!

  45. I love your bedroom. It does feel like a very nice place to relax and find some new energy after a tiring day. My bedroom is still the awful mess of colours the previous owners left it in and yours is truly an inspiration for when I'll redecorate it!

  46. Hi Kris! Your new bed cover is so pretty and the perfect match for your curtains! Such a brilliant idea to use the twin duvet covers! Looks like Libby really likes it too! How in the world does she get up on that high bed? Do you like the sleep number bed? We recently purchased a Temperpedic with an adjustable base so we can raise our feet and heads if wanted. I have been trying to see what makes my back feel the best. I love LOVE your new blanket with the fur trim! It looks so comfy and cozy! Terry always finds the best gifts! Enjoy your lovely sanctuary!
